Hearts to Africa's members returned to London This webpage starts at the bottom and ends at the top Thank you for visiting Hearts to Africa .................... Samuel Burke
Thanks to all our great volunteers for such positive results throughout the year. We have worked together with "No Excuse" towards making a difference by helping thousands of people. For our 2008 International Children’s Day we catered for 260 children and in 2009 an amazing 2,000 children. Last year's Outstanding Children's Achievement Award ceremony inspired 45 schools comprising 36,140 students and 2009 Awards totalled 57 schools comprising 41,386 students, of which 120 students received a certificate & a gift bag containing educational material and treats. We have enjoyed working throughout the various countries, and with your continued support we will endeavour to continue to do so in 2010. For the future, I would like to see continuity and the expansion of contributions towards development. Support should promote independence and minimize dependence. Thanks again CEO, Samuel .................... Maria Dalrymple Mr Mendy Neil White Lamin S.T Jammeh and Samuel Burke Maria Dalrymple: Sponsored 120 student travel expenses. Gambia's rainy season brought severe floods throughout the region.
Around 450 people were left homeless with their belongings destroyed.
Hearts to Africa, National Disaster Relief Committee, The Media and Laico Atlantic Hotel hosted a meeting to discuss strategies for assistance. Hearts to Africa provided clothing, foot wear and other materials to the National Disaster Relief Committee, We have also agreed to work together to help more people in the future. Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC)
THE CONTINUATION OF YEAR 2008 PLANNING DEVELOPMENT IN THE DRC
African Family Reunion (AFR) is a small voluntary organisation which was set up to help the people of the DR Congo and African families separated by the slave trade. Mr Ray Reynolds and Mrs Anna Reynolds Honoured for past development projects in the Democratic Republic of Congo Government Ministers and African Chiefs Mr Ray Reynolds, Co-founder of AFR was honoured by the DRC Government for his commitment in trying to help Africans around the world to unite in peace in order for all to develop a better future.
The DRC Government gave Mr Reynolds one thousand six hundred acres of land located in Lake Mai-Ndombe and Bankana and thanked him for his contribution.
Mrs Anna Reynolds, Co-founder of AFR was born in the DRC and was also honoured alongside her husband Mr Reynolds, but years before Mrs Reynolds was given her mother’s ancestral land which totalled more than a hundred thousand acres of land located throughout (Bandundu), Bulungu Kwilu and Bagata.
By using Google Earth Locater you can view the size of the land plus the villages. A guideline for the full length of the land is the Kwilu River. It would take a boat 8-10 hours to travel end to end.
As part of AFR development programme they gave the land to the local people to live rent free, which started a slow but sure development process. The first signs were, for the last 10 years the complete rent free area which totals fifty thousands plus families has been crime free and peaceful.
As from 2009 to 2012, the aims & objectives of African Family Reunion and Hearts to Africa will be a development program called “Unlimited Voluntary Community Commitment”.
UNLIMITED VOLUNTARY COMMUNITY COMMITMENT Improvements of villages, public buildings, build eco waste sites, clean drinking water and worldwide networking.
On the 3rd October 2009, the DRC – AFR Team will work with a minimum of 1000 local village people in the improvements of their villages, public buildings, waste sites and clean drinking water.
Each village will take some time out to help in the improvements of their village, we look forward to everyone’s support.
Hearts to Africa believe if your development program is limited to the size of its finance, then your program will be of a limited size.
Please support us. ....................
28th February 09 The Gambia More than one way to say thank you For some it’s a big smile, a hug, a wave, for others tears of joy, dedicated 'Hearts to Africa Day', a simple handshake or it could be flags displayed around a school yard.
In December 2006 Cianna & Yankuba gave 9 year old Ousman a bike, a pair of shoes & a bag of assorted clothes. Ousman was lost for words, his only reaction was a finger pointed to the skies. In February 2009 Hearts to Africa received the letter below, from Ousman, written by his head master. Ousman’s family had saved for a year to buy the stamps before asking the headmaster to write a letter of thanks. ....................
